Newsletter March 2024
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE: Hello to all in Demeter! Our leadership team has been doing a lot of work over the past year. I want to thank everyone on the Board and those leading all the com- mittees, as well as the Executive Team for all their efforts and support. None of this would be possible without them. We are currently working on revising the By- laws and Policies, which we hope will clarify duties, and thereby encourage members to serve in various roles. An online payment system has been added to our newly created website to allow members to pay dues and make donations without having to write checks. The Education Committee now has coordinators for internships, scholarships and grants, a reorganization which has al- lowed more effective communication with students. They have done an amazing job this year! Demeter continues to sup- port CALS students, to create comfortable headwear for cancer patients, and to get together through enjoyable and informative events. I hope you will all be at the Spring Luncheon to hear Dr. Leslie Holland, Department of Plant Pathology, speak about her work on fruit pathogens and her Extension work throughout Wisconsin. I look forward to seeing all of you soon on hopefully what will be a lovely Spring Day!
Laura Hernandez, president
